Central Government

Central government departments and organisations are continually being challenged to achieve greater efficiency, visibility, accountability and increased levels of services to its customers.

Over the years, the public sector as a whole has seen a number of initiatives and targets set to increase efficiency, collaboration and improve the value of its services to its customer base through initiatives such as eGovernment and the Gershon Efficiency Reviews.

Further to the above, Transformational Government, the Service Transformation Agreement (SRA) and the publishing of the Comprehensive Spending Review in 2007 (CSR07) have also identified key challenges and targets to be achieved by central government organisations, including the ability to achieve further levels of efficiency by 2010 and faster and more effective service.

Improving efficiency

To achieve this, central government departments and organisations will have to achieve greater efficiency utilising technology as the enabler for achieving ‘best practice’, both on an individual organisation basis and through further collaboration. Technology, now more than ever, will provide the basis on which central government departments and organisations can exploit shared services and further collaboration between departments and also across regional public sector organisations.

When looking at the achievement of CSR07 and the deficit to make up in funding, the whole question of implementation of collaboration or shared information/services is no longer a matter of ‘if’, but ‘when’.

Maximising benefits from technology

At Bramble.cc, we recognise that technology alone does not transform government and achievement of the targets set out through the SRA and CSR07. However, central government departments and organisations cannot make the transformation to meet those efficiency, collaboration and service targets without it.

We strive to assist this reform through the use of technology – creating and retaining the capability to innovate and use IT effectively to deliver improved services, whilst achieving cost savings and gains through greater efficiencies and collaboration.
