Case management
Case management and document management are not the same. Case files contain many, repeated instances of documents, usually in a standard structure; for instance: application forms, the evidence to support the application and a decision. Other examples of case management are investigations, processing claims, treatments of medical conditions, staff files or recruitment campaigns.
Importantly, case files often contain personal data, which needs to be handled more carefully than most documents. For some cases, but not all, there is also a requirement for process control so that tasks are performed in a set order and allocated to the right people. In such cases there is also the need to monitor progress and to produce management information – to check for efficiency, understand the case load and aid planning.
