Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM)
Documents and records form the cornerstone of any enterprise. The push for greater efficiency and regulatory compliance have meant that organisations cannot be without electronic document and records management (EDRM) policies, procedures and systems.
At Bramble.cc, we take a fully integrated, holistic approach to our clients’ EDRM challenges. We believe an ERDM implementation programme must deliver on all aspects of moving from a paper-based environment – or, more usually, an electronic environment that relies on the idiosyncratic practices of individuals – to a shared and standardized environment based around a central information repository and common ways of working.
This is partly about implementing technology, but more importantly involves the design and cross-organisational agreement of common information standards, and then managing the change to new, efficient and consistent ways of working with electronic information.
We strongly favour the use of ‘EDRM’ rather than ‘EDRMS’, as the latter tends to focus unduly on the technology (i.e. ‘system’) aspects, and technology-only projects within information management have tendency to fail, and fail badly. Whilst EDRM can be seen as a system in the very broadest sense of the word – i.e. a system of doing things – we recommend that success comes from a project focus on information transformation.
That said, the technology elements must not be overlooked, and Bramble.cc has unrivalled experience in, and knowledge of, all the EDRM software packages, and has particular expertise in procuring and implementing a range of different packages, dependent upon the individual business requirements of our clients.
